How to register a death
You can register the death at the Consular Section of the British Embassy in Moscow. Consular death registration is not a legal requirement but there are some benefits:
- An entry will be made in the death registry at the British Embassy in Moscow
- You will be provided with a British style certificate
- A record of the death will be held by the General Register Office in the UK
You will need to register the death with the foreign civil authorities and obtain a full death certificate before you can apply for consular death registration. The consular death certificate will not include a cause of death as many foreign death certificates do not include this detail. You can apply for a consular death certificate from the Consular Section of the British Embassy in Moscow.
