Football fans

  • Please make sure that you have a full passport with at least 6 months validity, and that there are sufficient empty pages for the visa and any associated immigration stamps. 
    Your visa should be valid for the period of your stay in the Russian Federation
  • Avoid arriving at the ground inebriated as you may be refused entry
  • Do not become involved with drugs during your visit. The Russian authorities have a zero tolerance attitude towards drugs, both hard and soft.  Penalties are severe and can result in long-term jail sentences
  • Do not drink or smoke in Red Square.  It is illegal and you will be arrested.
  • Read the FCO travel advice on Russia.  This can be found at www.fco.gov.uk
  • Carry your passport at all times.  You may be stopped in the street by police and need to produce it as ID.
  • If you are staying for longer than three days the hotel should register your visa and passport with the authorities when you check in
  • You will have to complete a migration card on arrival.  One half should be surrendered to the immigration officer, the other half you must retain with your passport for the duration of your stay.  It should be handed over on leaving Moscow
  • Be vigilant when drinking alcohol – do not leave drinks unattended as they may be spiked.  Be aware of strangers offering to buy you drinks (avoid bars at railway stations).
  • Safeguard your wallet and passport.  Be aware of pickpockets in metro stations, bars and Red Square.

To get to the Luzhniki Stadium form Paveletskaya railway station, go to Paveletskaya metro station, take the brown line (Koltsevaya/Circle line) and then change at Park Kultury metro station (3 stops form Paveletskaya) to the red line (Sokolnichskaya line), and get off at Sportivnaya (2 stops form Park Kultury metro station).

To get to the Luzhniki Stadium from the British Embassy, go to Smolenskaya metro station,
take the light blue line, then change at Aleksandrovsky Sad (2 stops from Smolenskaya)
