Press centre

The Press and Public Affairs Section (PPAS) is responsible for presenting and promoting the UK and British Government policy. PPAS oversees the work of the various organs of the British Public Diplomacy throughout Russia and liaises with other entities such as the British Council, VisitBritain and the Department for International Development Russia to ensure a co-ordinated effort across the country. The Head of PPAS is the official Spokesman for the Embassy.

PPAS provides a wide range of information services, including reference information on all aspects of Britain, and publications covering British Government policy, many available in Russian. There are also a limited number of television and video services. It is also responsible for managing and editing the Embassy website http://ukinrussia.fco.gov.uk.

PPAS co-ordinates all media operations for the UK Government including press conferences and interviews by visiting Government Ministers. It is also responsible for public diplomacy events; the Embassy's Sponsored Visits Programme, which facilitates visits to the UK by Russian journalists, opinion formers and policy makers.
