Signing memorandum

Visit to MosEnergo

Ed Miliband visited MosEnergo to see one of the russian oldest energy company. After the visit he answered some questions from media.

Memorandum signed

Russian Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko and Ed Miliband signed a memorandum for the organization of joint projects in energy efficiency. In the  framework  of  this memorandum,  working  groups will be set up to cover ten areas of focus. By year's  end, a plan for implementing projects specified in the memorandum will be signed.

After signing a memorandum Sergei Shmatko and Ed Miliband answered some questions from media.

Ed Miliband opened a seminar 'The Post-Crisis Economy: Moving to Green Growth' which took place in the British Embassy on 5th October, spoke to Moscow State University students and gave interview to Interfax and Vremya Novostei.

Ed Miliband visits Russia

 

On the 5-6th October, Ed Miliband, UK Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change will visit Moscow.

During his visit Secretary of State will conduct the UK-Russia Energy Dialogue with his counterpart the Russian Minister for Energy, Sergey Shmatko. The dialogue is an annual opportunity for the two countries to discuss key energy security and energy efficiency issues and develop bilateral co-operation in these areas.

The Secretary of State also plans to meet with key interlocutors in the Russian government to discuss climate change and the upcoming Copenhagen negotiations in which Russia and the UK will play key roles.

On the 5th of October, after the UK-Russia Energy Dialogue, Mr Miliband and Russian Minister for Energy Sergey Shmatko will sign the UK-Russian Memorandum of Understanding on Energy Efficiency. The purpose of the document is to deepen, and give a practical dimension to, joint effort in this area. This is an important milestone in the process of converting shared views on, and concerns about, energy efficiency into measurable actions.

The same day, the Secretary of State will speak to students at Moscow State University. The lecture will bear on energy policy, economic development and climate change.
